Description: The Stranded Colorwork Knit Cowl Workshop will teach you how to follow a colorwork chart and knit a design using the Stranded Colorwork technique. We’ll go over how to hold your yarn most effectively, keep your knitting tension even while changing colors and some tips and tricks to make colorwork a breeze! The first session will cover casting on the project and learning the basics of Stranded Colorwork. In the next session, we’ll work on the colorwork chart more and talk about how to block your cowl-neck scarf to get the best results! Participants must be 14 years old+. Supplies: Yarn will be provided Please let us know if you have a wool allergy and we will find a suitable yarn alternative. Participants must bring size 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles with a 24 inch cable, stitch markers and a tapestry needle - feel free to come into Betsy’s to purchase these items here for 10% off!
Skill Level: Intermediate - Participants must be familiar with how to knit, purl, cast on (long tail method) and bind off to join.
Homework:
No homework prior to the first class session, we’ll set up the ribbing together and get as far into the colorwork as we can.
Participants don’t need to complete the cowl for the second session, we’ll use the session to work on the colorwork chart together. Participants will complete the rest of the cowl at home- call us at (815) 836-0470 if you’d like to set up additional time to work with the instructor and finish the cowl!
