Description: The Sock 101 Workshop will teach you how to cast on, knit, and bind off a classic ribbed sock using the magic loop technique in three 2-hour sessions. The first session will cover beginning the project and knitting the leg portion of the sock. In the next session, you’ll learn how to knit a heel turn and continue the foot of the sock. The final session will cover toe decreases and binding off. Participants must be 14 years old+. If you’re interested in classes for children, please contact us at (815) 836-0470.

Supplies: Yarn and pattern will be provided. Please let us know if you have a wool allergy and we will find a suitable yarn alternative. Participants must bring their own US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle with a 32”- 40” cable and 3 stitch markers - feel free to come into Betsy’s to purchase these items here for 10% off!

Skill Level: Advanced beginner- participants must be comfortable casting on, knitting, and purling.

Homework:

  • No homework prior to the first class session.

  • For the second session, participants must complete the remainder of the sock’s leg - work up to the heel turn but do not move forward, we will complete that together!

  • Before the final session, participants must complete the foot of the sock- stop before the toe decreases begin.
